American Curl's Personality

The American Curl personality from our experience is a companion that always wants to talk to their human(s). Their overall personality is playful, friendly, affectionate, inquisitive, and easy going. Like the Sphynx they too like to greet their human when they return home with their doglike personalities. American Curls enjoy being in the presence of their human and making themselves known. They love to sit on laps and enjoy any attention that they can receive. They love to play with many different toys such as lasers lights, mice toys and bell balls. Throughout their entire lives, they typically retain a kitten-like playfulness and love to play with toys, climb and explore cat trees, investigate anything new brought into the home, and sometimes play fetch. However, once their playtime is over, your companion is likely to cuddle up with you and give their human affectionate head bumps. Anyone that would love a companion that will greet you, have a playful personality and want attention, an American Curl is all that in one.

Taking care of your Cat’s hygiene

American Curl maintenance is like that of an average house cat which includes bathing and nail trimming and weekly ear cleaning. Your companion made need more brushing then some depending on the fur length. If it is longer, this might need brushed a few times a week. If your companion has shorter hair, then they will only need brushed periodic brushing in order to maintain a healthy and clean fur. Ear cleaning is a little different for American Curls compared to the average house cat. To clean their ears, a dampen cotton round or cloth can be used to remove any dirt. Using Q-tips is not good to use because due to the American Curl’s ears, their ear structure is delicate. If you are unsure how to clean ears safely, it is best to consult your Vet.
